Audrina Partridge of MTV's "The Hills" in Aperture 3

A Farewell party for "The Hills" last week on Tuesday 27th July at the Haymarket hotel on London drew a few celeb guests. It was a pool party around the hotel pool. Guests were prohibited from using the pool. Not much of a pool party. The star attraction was Audrina Partridge from the MTV show. She arrived on a Harley Davidson, then got changed for her official photo at the boards.

Tech info:- I send my shots into the agency and they choose one they feel best represents the event, normally with the bigger celeb as the main gallery picture. For a few shots I decided to bounce my flash rather than direct. Being short of time I just pointed it up and hoped I would get the flash from another photographer to make up for the loss of light. It never happened. As I shoot RAW files I had a little bit of play. This was underexposed by about 2 stops. When you increase the exposure too much the picture can get a little muddy and lose some of its punch. Using Aperture 3 I increased the exposure by 1 stop, then brighten using the new curves adjustment tool. Curves wasn't in the previous Aperture 2 version and is a welcome addition in the upgrade. What started as an underexposed file ended up as the agency's gallery image. The adjustments must have been satisfactory.
